Mac Wiki Guide from MacRumors

Mac Wiki Guide from MacRumors: MacRumors wiki guideLooks like MacRumors has a few more tricks up their sleeve (besides the obvious), as they’ve launched a wiki Guide to all things Apple and Mac. I don’t know how this stacks up to the likes of the Wikitosh, but I’ve already learned a few things just browsing through, such as the old-school ADB port that offered an advantage or two over today’s USB.

MacSlash, where I found this, notes that MacRumors isn’t attempting to create some definitive encyclopedia. Instead, it sounds like they’re just trying to organize the massive amount of information their forums seem to collect. I tip my hat to whoever had that crazy idea.

Has Price Charles converted to Islam?

The Religious Policeman: “Whose opinion was being formed [about Saudi Arabia]? And why has he officially visited 8 times? I’ll bet he’s not been that many times to most of the Commonwealth countries, of which he may at some point in the future be King. These are, after all, official visits to Saudi, not private trips to see some polo-playing chum. So is he actually visiting what he feels to be his spiritual home? Did he make incognito trips to the Holy Mosques?”

Sex.com Hijacker Captured in Mexico

Sex.com Hijacker Captured in Mexico: “Revvy wrote to mention that Stephen Cohen has finally been brought to justice. From the article: ‘Cohen, a multiple felon and longtime con man, had been on the run since before 2001, when a judge ordered him to pay a San Francisco entrepreneur for hijacking the Internet address Sex.com. In 1995, Cohen forged a letter to Internet authorities to gain control of the address, which he transformed into a highly profitable site for pornography ads. Cohen, who had been living in a Tijuana mansion, was arrested on an immigration violation by Mexican authorities and turned over to agents of the U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Marshals Service, according to Deputy Marshal Tania Tyler.’

Family Gassed in Washington Heights

Family Gassed in Washington Heights: “2005_10_w123.jpgA horrifying murder-suicide story unfolded last night as neighbors realized their neighbors killed themselves and their two young children in their 549 West 123rd Street apartment. A police source said, ‘It’s real ugly in there,’ and the family of four may have been in the apartment for days. Fred Wang apparently mailed a friend in Taiwan, saying that he would kill himself and his family because of a business deal gone bad; the friend contacted a relative who arrived at the apartment ot find the dead family. Wang’s mother was found in another room, safe and unaware of what had happened. Firefighters found ’six pots of burned charcoal in the bedroom,’ with windows and doors sealed to create more than enough carbon monoxide to kill them.

Forbes’ Top Earning Dead Celebrities: Elvis: $45M Charles Schulz: $35M John Lenon: $22M Andy Warhol: $16M Dr. Seuss: $10M…: “They’re famous across the globe. Their work is treasured by millions. And they’re rolling in cash–they just can’t spend any of it.

The 13 members of our annual Highest-Earning Dead Celebrities list brought in a collective $186 million in the last year. They, or more accurately, their estates, earned that money by selling their work–both written and recorded–or just the rights to use their likenesses on T-shirts, posters or in advertisements. Sometimes their life stories themselves are worth something: Musician Ray Charles makes the list for the first time this year, in part because of income related to his 2004 biopic. Johnny Cash, who also makes his first appearance this year, has his own movie out in November.
